In 2006 the Active People survey found that 1.1 million girls play some form of football and there
are 26 million females playing across the world! If you're a girl and you're into your footie, there's
no reason not to play.
Today football in the UK is the top female sport. At first thought to be a bit of a gimmick by the
football world, the sport is now taken very seriously by the Football Association with a department
devoted to the woman's game from grassroots to the national team. In fact the English ladies team is
one of the best in the women's European leagues, and this year, Arsenal women's team became the first
British team to win a UEFA cup.
There are over 8,000 girls' teams across England, all playing mini soccer & 11-a-side competitive football
every week throughout the August-May season, and if you're interested in playing football, then why not
join us at Caterpillar Girls Football Club.
Caterpillar girls academy play football on a thursday night from 18:30-20:00, for age groups of 5/8
years. There is no official league or cup competition for these girls, as FA rules state these age
groups can only play competative football from the age of 8 onwards. Youngsters can still play matches
but results must be kept private and no league tables can be compiled, according to the ruling from
the Football Association. Also, they should not compete in knockout tournaments where trophies or
medals are at stake as FA officials fear the pressure could be too great.
Caterpillar Girls Football Academy provides football fun for all girls who wish to play football, if
you're a girl wishing to join in the fun of playing football, then contact one of our club committee
members for more details.
All coaches are FA qualified and also hold Child Protection and First Aid qualifications and are CRB
cleared.
